A lot of change is happening. We’re here to help.

At Temple, we work hard to ensure our students have what they need to succeed academically and personally. We get it—there’s a lot to navigate during your first year, and we believe a strong support system plays a vital role in your achievements, confidence, and—most important—your happiness and sense of self.

No matter the reason, we’re here for you.

Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership

The Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL) serves to sustain and nurture an inclusive Temple. It celebrates each student, and who they are as individuals and as part of the campus community.

Through its education, events, programs and services, IDEAL advocates for students across campus, and it actively supports all identity groups, in all forms. Its professional staff and diversity peers are specifically trained in areas involving diversity, social justice and inclusion.

Below, learn more about how IDEAL engages our students and strengthens our community. In the video, you'll hear from its director of student engagement and three student panelists.

Disability Resources and Services

Every day, Temple values people with all abilities, and we are deeply committed to the inclusion of our students. The Office of Disability Resources and Services (DRS) educates our community about disability inclusion and accessibility, and it empowers students to become advocates for themselves and their needs.

Accommodations

DRS provides academic accommodations, which are modifications provided to students to provide equal access to the learning environment. As a student, you can work with DRS to establish reasonable accommodations for your courses and academic requirements. DRS also partners with University Housing and Residential Life for students who request accessible housing.

Sign Language and CART

Temple provides sign language interpreting, on-site and remote Communication Access Real Time Translation (CART) services for students at no cost for academic-related purposes.

Assistive Technology

Temple offers assistive technology and software to students, including JAWS screen readers, Braille displays, digital recorders and electronic recording devices.

If you have questions, contact DRS at 215-204-1280 or email drs@temple.edu.

Fly in 4

Fly in 4 is a program designed to help you stay on track academically and financially so you have a clear path to earning your degree in four years. Temple was one of the first universities in the U.S. to offer a program like Fly in 4, and since its launch in 2014, our four-year graduation rate increased 12%.

All students are encouraged to sign up after they officially accept their offer of admission because the program works to limit student debt and helps them achieve their goals faster. Many students who take advantage of Fly in 4 are able to graduate early or even with graduate degrees.

Fly in 4 also offers 500 students from each entering class need-based grants. Select students are awarded $4,000 annually based on their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Watch the video below to find out more about how Fly in 4 works.
