Welcome to the Division of University Studies

Temple’s Division of University Studies is the academic home for students who have not yet decided on a major or are transitioning between majors. University Studies helps undeclared students explore academic options and gain admission to a degree-granting school or college at Temple.

If you haven’t selected a school or college by the time you apply, you’ll have the guidance of the Division of University Studies and up to two years to decide on a major. You can take classes from multiple Temple schools and colleges, at Main, Ambler, and other Temple campuses, all while making progress toward your degree.

Congratulations, you are officially a student in the Division of University Studies (DUS) at Temple University. We are so happy that you've chosen to be undeclared and wanted to welcome you and give you a sneak peek into what is in store while you're with us.

There are four advisors in DUS, Kristen Young, Irina Veramidis, Abby Schmid and Tracy Malz. And while you can see any advisor, you're assigned one specific advisor based on your last name, so you know who you can come to with any questions. We also have Neil Conley, our director. Even if we don't know the answers, we can make sure that we give you the information for someone who does.

Another resource in DUS is our amazing staff of peer advisors, who are students just like you, to help as well. You can call them to schedule an appointment with an advisor, or for any small questions that probably have a quick answer. They also help with orientation, so they definitely know a thing or two about DUS.

Unsure of the best place to eat, or just need to vent to someone who isn't a staff member? Well, here at DUS we have peer mentors who are students who were at one point also undeclared, but have now successfully declared and want to help you as much as they can. You can meet with them one-on-one or attend events to meet other undeclared students like you. In case you can't tell, we want to make sure that you know that you're not alone in this journey as you discover your major.

Meet Your Peer Mentors

In the Peer Mentor program, you have the opportunity to join a community of fellow undeclared students. Our peer mentors will share their major declaration stories with you, answer your questions and talk through any concerns you may have.
