The School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management at Temple University has a tradition of preparing leaders in the sport, recreation, tourism, hospitality and events industries. Through a curriculum infused with hands-on learning and career-relevant coursework, we provide students with the foundational knowledge and professional development resources necessary to hit the ground running in their careers. The school offers undergraduate students

internships that offer hands-on experience and networking opportunities, and
individualized career planning and professional development.

Congratulations.

Congratulations on your acceptance to the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management. We can't wait to officially welcome you to the family.

We are so excited that you were accepted into our program. We look forward to everything that you're going to do while you're here at Temple.

The STHM community is a big family. You'll walk down the hallway and everyone from custodial staff to professors and faculty, they know your name. They ask you how you are.

The STHM courses and curriculum are really designed to develop you not only as a student, but as a professional.

I really love the program that STHM has created because it offers such a wide variety of things to learn.

The School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management, often known as STHM, is a business-minded program for those particular industries.

Every class that you take in STHM and your major within sport and rec management or tourism and hospitality build off of the fundamentals that you're taught in those core business classes.

My classmates have become my connections further than just being friends.

I've made some of my closest friends freshman year, and we have taken the same classes together throughout. The virtual land has opened a lot of different opportunities within STHM because alumni, as they say, are all over the world.

Sometimes it's hard to imagine yourself in the industry, but seeing people that have the same degree as you and maybe have the same trajectory in terms of career path as you, definitely makes it a lot better for you to see yourself there.

It's awesome to see how someone can just come into your class, and then you can be talking with them the next week.

A lot of your professors, if not most of them, have already been in the industry in some capacity, and sometimes they still work in the industry. So a lot of the time, you're able to have real-world experiences brought into your classroom.

STHM is perfectly located in North Philadelphia, which is home to huge portions of our industries. We're a subway ride away from all of the professional sports teams in Philadelphia. There's thousands of hotel rooms, plenty of restaurants, huge events that come and happen right here in our own backyard.

The National Society of Minority Students in Hospitality Conference

In October 2020, the School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management hosted the 2019 Northeastern Regional Conference of the National Society of Minorities in Hospitality (NSMH). The Temple University Chapter of NSMH helped to organize the conference.

On Main Campus, students run Saxbys

The on-campus café is managed and staffed by students through an experiential learning program that allows students to take charge of individual Saxbys locations, and get direct experience to learn how to run a business.
